Mrs Khonk was a member of the Liga Fuer Menschenrechtee so had to leave Germany already in July 1933. First, she stayed in Paris “for a miserable year and a half” then went from there to Italy - the Lake of Garda, describing how happy she has been among the Italians until September 1938 when it was announced that all foreign Jews had to leave the country no later than March 1939.
The report also includes an interesting story that the Chief of the Police in Verona expressed to her - as representative of the Italian people - his deepest regret on the above decree.
