A personal report on the November Pogrom by Rabbiner Dr. Eschelbacher, formerly Düsseldorf. The report is divided into five parts :

     a) “Vorgeschichte” (the years between 1935 - 1938, Nuernberger Gesetze April 1935, etc.)

     b) “28. Oktober 1938” (expulsion of Jewish-Polish citizens)

     c) “Der 10. November” (personal)

     d) “Der 10. November in Düsseldorf” (general)

     e) Die Zeit nach dem 10. November - Unsere Auswanderung”.

According to Dr. Eschelbacher the Düsseldorf Pogrom was most brutal and excessive; even the prominent “Aryan” people of the town (e.g. medical doctors of the Municipal Hospital and Presidents of District Courts (“Landgerichtsdirektoren”)) took part in setting the Synagogue on fire.

The strange story of the “Siddur” (Prayer book) - everything taken away from Dr. Eschelbacher - like a boomerang - always returned to him.
