- A personal report by Mrs L. Borchard, managing director of the Borchard Lines Ltd., London. From 1930, the time of her husband's death, the author was the Direktor der Fairplay Schleppdampfschifffahrtsreederei, Richard Borchard G.m.b.H. in Hamburg. In 1933 she got permission to train Jewish young men. There were three other Jewish shipping companies in Germany: Kunstmann (Stettin), Bernstein (Hamburg) and Schindler (Hamburg). 150 young Jews were trained for service in the merchant navy in Israel.
